The Modern Architecture + Design Society (MA+DS) is hosting their signature Modern Home Tour series this April in a way that’s accessible to all. Although there seems to be a light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel, we’re not quite in the clear yet, so MA+DS has transitioned its popular in-person home tour series to an online format this year.
Dubbed “A Passion for MCM - A Tour of Mid-Century Modern Homes", the latest tour in the series will transport online viewers to some of the most beautiful mid-century neighborhoods in the country.
“Our mid-century modern home tour in March is unique among our events,” says MA+DS founder, James Leasure. “Just about every other tour we have done, in person or virtually, celebrates the current trends of modern architecture and design in a specific city. This tour is a survey of the iconic MCM movement and lifestyle in three different areas of the country, from its historic foundation to contemporary interpretation.”
Attendees will enjoy a 360-view of stunning MCM homes in Starlight Village in Austin, Wilder Lane near Denver, and Silicon Valley. Nestled in the northwest suburbs of Austin, Starlight Village merges MCM architecture with 21st-century floor plans, giving viewers a glimpse into how to combine modern and contemporary design concepts to create unparalleled homes.
Wilder Lane is a similar development to Starlight Village. Located in the Denver suburbs, the neighborhood comprises 24 unique homes that blend modernist style with contemporary design and construction.
After checking out these 21st-century MCM-inspired developments, attendees will head to Palo Alto to behold some of the iconic mid-century Eichler homes. These homes were meticulously remodeled by Klopf Architecture to add contemporary touches without sacrificing their mid-century charm.
All of the homes on the tour will be showcased using real-time 3D imaging streams. An MA+DS host will take attendees through each home, discussing its details, answering questions, and offering design tips and advice.
The tour takes place on April 3rd from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm CDT. A standard tour ticket costs $40, which provides access to the live event and a recording. The VIP pass costs $149 and includes access to all of MA+DS’ 2021 tours, which take place monthly.
Check out the event’s website to learn more about the tour and purchase your tickets.
